Devlog to Project B
Date: 14. 4. 2025
Activity:
- I implemented my One page game design level from previous assignment in Unity using 2D GameKit.
- I tryed to follow all instructions exactly as I planed them before, even I would change it now when i have more experience. I changed only part that would make the level unplayebale, like spawning 3 spitters. I tryed to play it and there was too many projectiles so it was almost imposible to finish that part.
- I implemented all feedback, for example: disabled gun, rotating platforms, more spike used...
Notes:
- The main problem for me was the time management. I cannot work on project like this continuously while doing other school reletad assignments and going to work. So I decided to do it all in one weekend even if it leads to loss of points.
- I still have problems with the acid texture, it always turns pink. So I used spikes instead, they also instakill the player so the outcome is the same.
- I had a few problems with the rotating platforms, the main is the stoping and continue rotating again, I have to ask about this at the lecture. Sometimes it seems like it missed the stoping window and kept spinnig, so I implemented some bigger window for the angle but then the platform was not doing the full spin, but just a little movement inside that window. So i had to balance all windowsizes individualy.
- I also have to ask about the rotating hitboxes of attached game objects. Do they rotate also or not?
- I find quite hard to decorate the level with the premade decorations. When I can design my own is so much easier for me.
- I wanted to design quite hard platformer, but iI havent thought about all the playtesting. I already hate the level and I died too many times to enjoy it anymore.
Invested hours:
- 2 days (16 hours in total maybe, most of it was playing and debuging the platforms)
Outcome:
